Joshua Goot - Biography

Joshua "Josh" Goot, born in Sydney in 1980, is an Australian fashion designer. He attended Moriah College in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs. Josh Goot began a Media Art & Production degree at Sydney’s University of Technology in 1999. Goot's interests were in media and communication through fashion design.

Goot started his design activity in 2004 and presented his first collection in 2005. He won the 2005 Tiffany & Co Young Designer of the Year Award. The following season saw a marked evolution in the look.

Goot returned to New York, where he met Stella Ishii and began working with The News press and sales office. In July 2005, the label featured on the cover of Women's Wear Daily.

In May 2007, it was announced that Goot would design a capsule collection for Target Australia. It was announced that the range would be released in June the same year. He was the first Australian to design a solo collection for the budget chainstore, following Stella McCartney. Goot's range was considerably less hyped and received little media attention. The collection showed his minimalist aesthetic and was made of a merino wool blend in black, grey marle, green and blue.
