Ione Skye Lee (born Ione Skye Leitch; September 4, 1970) is an English-born American actress, who became a teen idol after the 1989 movie Say Anything.... In 2006 VH1 placed her at number 84 in the "100 Greatest Teen Stars" list.

Early life

Skye was born Ione Skye Leitch in Hertfordshire, England, and is the daughter of folk singer/songwriter Donovan and model Enid Karl (née Stulberger). Her father is Scottish and her mother is an American from a Jewish family. She is the younger sister of Camp Freddy singer Donovan Leitch, who is married to former model Kirsty Hume. Skye was raised in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Connecticut. She attended Immaculate Heart High School and Hollywood High School for the Performing Arts in 1987.

Career

Skye's best-known performance was as Diane Court in the 1989 film Say Anything... She made her film debut in River's Edge in 1986, and played the title character in The Rachel Papers (1989). In 1992, she played the role of Eleanor Grey on the short-lived TV show Covington Cross, and played a supporting role in the Stephen La Rocque film Samantha. She also had a small but well-received part in the 2007 David Fincher film Zodiac. She also appeared in a music video by the band Harvey Danger, titled "Sad Sweetheart Of The Rodeo"

In a rare interview with mondo-video.com in December 2010, Skye admitted to not paying perfect attention to her career arc over the years. She went on record, to state, that she "never struck when the iron was hot", when it came to going out after bigger Hollywood roles when in her 20s.

Personal life

For a few years in the 1980s, Skye had a relationship with Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis. In Kiedis' 2004 book Scar Tissue there is a nude photo of the couple. Skye was under the age of 18 when the picture was taken.

Her first husband, Adam Horovitz, is a member of the Beastie Boys. The couple separated in 1995 and divorced in 1999.

In 1999, she had a romance with model and actress Jenny Shimizu.

Skye had a relationship with furniture designer David Netto and they had a daughter named Kate around 2001 or 2002. The family, Ione's home in Hollywood, California and David's apartment in New York City, were featured in the February 2003 issue of Vogue magazine. They were engaged even though they continued an on-again, off-again, bi-coastal relationship. Eventually they broke up.

In 2008, Skye became engaged to Australian musician Ben Lee. On December 29, 2008, Skye and Lee were married in a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony in India. They have a daughter named Goldie Priya Lee who was born September 24, 2009.
