James Deen - Biography

James Deen (born February 7, 1986) is an American pornographic actor and director. He entered the porn industry in 2004 at the age of 18. He has gained attention due to his lack of resemblance to stereotypical male actors in the pornography industry.

Biography

Performing in pornographic films was Deen's ambition since he was in primary school. Though he is now on good terms with his parents, Deen moved out of their home before he turned 18 and was briefly homeless. At that time he was drawn to the Gutter punk subculture. A native of Pasadena, California, he later worked at a local Starbucks before entering the pornographic industry.

He has dated the pornographic actress Joanna Angel.

Career

After entering the pornographic industry he initially worked with older female performers. Deen's appearance has been described as "normal guy" or "slightly skate-punk". Dean, who has appeared in approximately 2000 films, has made over $20,000 per month from his performances and describes himself as "overpaid". He is best known for producing what is known as "female-friendly" pornography, although he also performs in more hardcore productions, as well.

Deen has a devoted fan-following among teenage girls, a demographic which in not typically associated with the pornography industry. He attempts to cultivate his fan base through frequent blogging and activity on twitter.

In 2009, he was named the "Male Performer of the Year" by Adult Video News. He is the youngest person to have won the title.
