Mikhail Alexandrovich - biography

Mikhail Davidovich Alexandrovich (aka Misha Alexandrovich) (b. 23 July 1914, the village of Berger Lucinski County, Vitebsk - now Berzpils, Balvu region of Latvia - d. 2002, Munich, Germany) - Latvian and Soviet singer (tenor). In the 1920-39 gained popularity as a prodigy. He graduated from the Riga Conservatory. For a long time he was a cantor at synagogues in Vilnius and Kaunas. From 1940 onwards he was a concert- and chamber-singer in the USSR. He recorded seventy 78s and LPs with a total circulation of two million copies. He lived in Israel from 1971 to 1979, when he moved to the United States, and then from 1990 until his death he lived in Germany.
