Vanessa Johansson - Biography

Vanessa Johansson (born January 12, 1980) is an American actress.

Background

Johansson was born in New York City. Her father, Karsten Johansson, is a Danish-born architect, and her paternal grandfather, Ejner Johansson, was a screenwriter and director. Her mother, Melanie Sloan, a producer, comes from a Jewish American family from the Bronx. Johansson's parents met in Denmark, where her mother lived with Johansson's maternal grandmother, Dorothy, a former bookkeeper and schoolteacher. Johansson's younger sister is actress Scarlett Johansson. She also has two brothers, Adrian and Hunter; and a half-brother, Christian, from her father's re-marriage. She is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University.

In 2008, she co-starred opposite Stephen Baldwin in the film Shark in Venice, mainly shot in Sofia, Bulgaria; the film received negative reviews and halted her career. She got her second break with a top-billing role in the horror film Skavengers, shot 2011 on location in the southern castle district of Denmark.
