Филантроп и библиофил; его библиотекой пользовался Левинзон при своих научных работах. Значительная часть этой библиотеки перешла после смерти Л. в книгохранилище Фридланда (см. Азиатский музей). М. Л. сотрудничал в "Ha-Karmel" и в др. евр. изданиях и написал "Sefer ha-Kundes" и др. сатиры.
