Известный польский и советский биохимик. Глава инситута медицинской химии львовского университета (1920-1941), академик, один из основателей академии медицинских наук СССР. В возрасте 36 лет перешёл в католичество. До войны жил во Львове, арестован в 1940г., вскоре освобожден. Арестован в январе 1949г., умер на первом допросе от инфаркта.
