Владелец фабрики по выделке кожи, путешествовал в 1890х в США для ознакомления с техниками кожного дела перед тем, как вернуться в Ригу и женится. С началом первой мировой войны евреев изгнали из Латвии, предполагая, что они, владея немецким поддержат немецкую армию. С 1914 семья жила в Москве, куда Борис перевёл свою кожную фабрику, которая поставляла сапоги русской армии с 1914 по 1918 годов.
