интеллектуал, криминалист, врач, академик, работал с Чезаре и продолжал созданное последним направление научной деятельности. Осенью 1931 года, ученые Италии были вынуждены дать клятву на верность фашизму. Только пятнадцать человек отказались, рискуя потерять работу. Марио Каррара был одним из них, и был уволен со всех государственных должностей. Весной 1935 в го доме был произведен обыск, в октябре 1936 он был арестован за деятельность против фашистского режима, и только преклонный возраст спас его из заключения.
