Учёный. Был взят в плен во время первой мировой войны и с тех пор не мог выбраться из России. Лишь в позднем возрасте Хершелю удалось выбраться в Израиль, где он трагически погиб в автокатастрофе, после которой его разбитая горем жена совершила самоубийство.
