Советский физик-теоретик. Профессор ЛПИ и ЛГУ, автор научно-популярных книг по физике. Доктор физико-математических наук. 18 февраля 1938 приговорен Военной коллегией Верховного суда СССР к расстрелу, расстрелян в тот же день. Предположительно захоронен на Левашовской пустоши.
