Галахический законодатель, известный своим трудом "Арбаа турим". Третий сын в семье. Когда Яков был ребёнком, спасаясь от преследований, семья бежала в Испанию. Под конец жизни направился из Толедо в Израиль, чтобы выполнить заповедь о жизни в Израиле. Умер по дороге в Измире, тело было переправлено в Испанию. Похоронен в Толедо рядом с отцом.
