Купец 1 гильдии и писатель. В 1912 г. жил в Могилеве-Подольском. Получил традиционное воспитание. С. дебютировал (Hamizpah, 1886, IV) повестью "Naare bet ha-Midrasch", вошедшей в изданный им в том же году сборник "Schelal ziwei ha-Chajim"; за ней последовали: "Ester" (повесть из жизни эмигрантов, 1887); "Kitwe ben-kefar" (1887); "Nikmat ibrijah" (трагедия в 4 д., 1886); "Me-olam ha-chassidut" (1904); "Ruach chadaschah" (1902). C. издал также монографию ο иудаизме "Mahuth a-Jahdut" (1904).
