Торговал антиквариатом. Был богат. В 25 лет стал главой общины Познани. изучал он не только Тору, но и светские науки. Он знал также, как упомянуто выше, несколько языков, что очень помогло ему играть большую роль в еврейской жизни того времени. Моше приходилось также совершать поездки во многие страны, как-то: в Италию, Германию и Польшу. Р. Моше и один из его сыновей поселились в Минске. Два его сына, р. Иеуда и р. Мордехай, обосновались в Орше, Могилевской губернии. Р. Шнеур-Залман, его жена и их дочь Девора-Лея присоединились к тем семьям, у которых р. Шнеур-Залман учительствовал. Они все поселились в Витебске, где р. Шнеур-Залман продолжал преподавать.
