Закончил политехнический инситут в Рени. Закончил Бернский университет в 1901 году и был инженером-химиком, Был бундовцем, затем меньшевиком. Он был одним из организаторов восстания в Севастополе во время революции 1905 года. Впоследствии он вышел из партии. До выхода на пенсию и переезда в Москву работал инженером в Донецком угольном бассейне и других шахтах страны.
