Был одним из лучших учеников раввина Хаима из Воложина, у которого был в услужении 14 лет. После свадьбы какое-то время жил в доме тестя в Карелицах. Затем был вторым главой ешивы в Вильне после раввина Хаима Эпштейна. После этого поступил на пост главы раввинского суда Ивье, Малат и Карелицах. На исходе дней совершил алию со своим другом раввином Иосифом Зюнделем из Салант. Похоронен на Хар аЗаитим.
