Lvova family ENG
Irene Berkman:
This is what my father told me:
His mother was the first of my (and Leonid's) grandfather's wives. He was the oldest of 4 boys. His brothers were Boris, Zindl, and Pincus. Their mother died, I was told, in childbirth with the youngest boy. My grandfather's sister moved in to take care of the boys. When she married my grandfather married for a second time. The new wife fought with the boys. My father was the oldest and tried to protect his brothers. There were terrible fights. She told my grandfather that she didn't want my father in the house anymore. My grandmother's whole family (name Rabinowitz) including his grandfather, great grandfather, aunts, and uncle left for America pleading with my grandparents to come too. My grandfather (Isai) refused as he was a rich man and didn't want to leave. At age 12, my father was sent alone to his maternal grandparents who made a home for him. He worked from the first day he arrived.
He and Boris corresponded at one point. That's how I had the pictures of the family. I believe that your grandfather Leonid was the son of the second wife. I never heard about any of the other names. My great grandfather on my mother's side was a Rabbi. I don't know anything else about the Lvov family.
