Lisa Marx - Biography
Lisa Marx is a guitarist and classically trained pianist from California.
Musical career
In 2002, Marx joined Seattle hardcore band To See You Broken. The all-female underground group was a novelty in the northwest hardcore scene and shared the stage with many northwest hardcore acts such as Himsa, Champion, The Blood Brothers, Hardesty, As I Lay Dying, Misery Signals.
This led Marx to a more mainstream version of TSYB in 2004 when she was hired to play guitar in the Canadian metal group Kittie. Marx toured with the band until 2005, when her and current bassist Jennifer Arroyo left the band for personal reasons.
Shortly after, Marx joined California based metalcore band Scars of Tomorrow on a temporary basis for their tours in late 2005 with Bury Your Dead and Terror. While touring with SOT, she encountered another opportunity playing guitar for Australian/New Zealand based band Day of Contempt, then residing in Orange County, California.
Day of Contempt later became The Dear & Departed in 2006. After returning from a European tour with Avenged Sevenfold, the band played local shows with mainstream punk band AFI before Marx left the band due to creative differences, as the band had changed direction since the transformation.
Later in 2006, Marx tour managed Tiger Army under Superhero Artist Management for two consecutive tours. Shortly after, Marx pursued a position at Abacus Recordings in Los Angeles, and was soon transferred to their sister company Century Media Records in 2007. In 2008, Marx started working behind the scenes with 10th Street Management, also known as Motley Records in Los Angeles. She was featured at a Mötley Crüe press conference in Hollywood, as she worked with the band on their viral marketing campaign.
In 2009, she was featured on the Psyclon Nine album We The Fallen, performing a piano composition as well as designing the album artwork.
In October 2009 she was approached by California deathcore band Winds Of Plague to fill in on keyboard for their Australian/New Zealand tour.
Lisa Marx is managed under Ryan Downey of Blood Company.
