Книга еврейской мудрости

Исполняй Его желание, как своё, чтобы Он исполнил твоё, как своё. Предпочти Его желание своему, чтобы Он предпочёл твоё желание желанию других.

Биография

 Michał Glucksberg (1838-1907)
Michał Glucksberg was Jan Glucksberg’s son. Michał graduated from philological junior high school in Warsaw. In 1859, he took over J. Zawadzki and J. Węcki’s bookstore and ran it under the name “Księgarnia i Skład Nut Muzycznych Michała Glucksberga” (“Michał Glcksberg’s Bookstore and Store of Musical Notes”). Various titles in both Polish and foreign languages could be found at the store. The books were on different subjects: school, religion, belles-lettres. Glucksberg had also a lending library at his bookstore. The books were available in Polish, French and English.
Michał Glucksberg ran also a publishing activity, among books which he published there were for example: “Historia literatury polskiej” (“A History of Polish Literature”) by Julian Bartoszewicz, “Pisma św. Starego i Nowego testamentu” (“The Old and the New Testament”) with illustrations by G. Dory, novels by Teodor Tomasz Jeż, Józef Ignacy Kraszewski, Narcyza Żmichowska, Victor Hugo. Michał Glucksberg was also a publisher of “Kmiotek” (“Peasant”) magazine edited by W. L. Anczyc and then by J. K. Gregorowicz. Another magazine issued by Glucksberg was an illustrated weekly magazine for women called “Bluszcz” (“Ivy”). The magazine was edited by M. Ilnicka and had many faithful readers. Among the most interesting titles published by Michał Glucksberg there are two picture albums: “Muzeum sztuki europejskiej” (“Museum of European Art”) and “Galerie włoskie” (“Italian Exhibitions”). Both of them contain artistically made copies of works of art which are accompanied by biographies and portraits of famous artists. Michał Glucksberg sold his bookstore in 1875 but he did not stop his publishing activity and issued approximately 20 books each year. He was famous for publishing works of Józef Ignacy Kraszewski while being a member of Spółka Wydawnicza Księgarzy (“Booksellers’ Publishing Company”). The company published 29 tomes of “Powieści historyczne” (“Historical Novels”). Michał Glucksberg was the last bookseller from the Glucksberg family.
