Жил в Гомеле, затем один в Ленинграде. В Гомеле занимался ремонтом музыкальных инструментов. Жена была его двоюродной сестрой. У него была больная нога, после иньекции в ногу, сделанной, чтобы избежать службы в армии в 1914 году.
