STEP 1:   FEEL AND LEAD

If you like the Salons concept and feel like it can suit your community, you are welcome to join a growing international Jewish grassroots network. Still, while it's easy to identify with the idea, starting a Salon requires one to lead a group into a unique process experience.

STEP 2:   START A GROUP

Begin to talk about it to people who you feel will identify with the project. Find the people who will work with you and offer their professional SKILLS voluntarily. You have a SALON GROUP once you have gathered around you, people that can supply some or one of the following qualities:

    * A local leading coordinator.
    * A contemporary art person who can make professional choices.
    * Jewish content person encouraging Jewish expression.
    * A creative-art production person.
    * Marketing & Public Relations person.
    * Finance person to advise on financial managing.
    * A person with fund raising experience.

STEP 3:   BECOME A COORDINATOR

The role of the coordinator is crucial for the program's initial take-off and success in each community. The coordinator's pivotal role, described in the following JOB DESCRIPTION, will be based on part-time employment (20 hrs a week):

1.      Initiate and monitor ongoing local group meetings and process.

2.      Initiate event program of 4 annual events with local group.

3.      Engage local patrons for local/regional founding.

4.      Take part in weekly conference calls of community coordinators and project head office.

5.      Coordinate communication between group and project's artistic manager.

6.      Recruit volunteers and professionals needed for event production.

7.      Document growing group process to be shared in network learning process.

8.      Register Salon activity under the framework of a local NGO.

9.      Manage budget and administration.

10.    Participate in annual evaluation retreat with global project staff.

STEP 4:   FINALIZE FUNDING

Raising funds for each Salon is the constant effort of the Project Director in Israel and the local coordinator. The budget for every Salon group for 2009 year's program is 50,000 Dollars or Euros, depending on the country.

STEP 5:   BRAND YOUR SALON EVENT

Once the group is ready to execute an event, the BRANDING of a Salon event should follow the following principles:

    * Find aesthetically chic venue.
    * Build high quality interactive programs enriched by the JS network.
    * Present mixed local & international Jewish cultural content.
    * Market and advertise loyal to network's graphic language.
